Dreams of YesteryearDreams of Yesteryear (20 miles): Dreams of Yesteryear Victorian Bed and Breakfast is just a couple of blocks from the banks of the Wisconsin River, and a few minutes stroll from historic downtown Stevens Point, in the heart of Wisconsin.
The Queen Anne Victorian house is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Built in 1901 by J.L. Jensen, it was designed by architect J.H. Jeffers, who is famous for having designed the Wisconsin Exhibit for the 1904 St. Louis World's Fair. It remained in the Jensen family until 1987 when present owners Bonnie and Bill Maher renovated the house for their family home and nominated it for a listing on the National Register of Historic Places. The house gained that register listing in 1988. In 1990 the Mahers opened the house as a bed and breakfast.
The house is beautifully restored and is decorated with Victorian-style antiques. But each room has modern comforts, including high-speed internet and cable television. The B&B serves a delicious gourmet breakfast, including pecan and strawberry-stuffed French toast, blueberry pancakes and eggs Benedict, among other morning delights.
